Cheer on all-star sports players, chow down on hot dogs and support a good cause
Reilly Smith of the Vegas Golden Knights returns as the host of the annual charity softball game, Battle For Vegas 2022. Sticking with tradition, Dollar Loan Center presents a good ol’ fashion ball game in Downtown Summerlin at the Las Vegas Ballpark. Save the Date: Monday, July 18 at 5:30 p.m.
The teams will consist of two groups of iconic athletes. The Vegas Golden Knights players will “battle” against the Las Vegas Raiders players. The roster revealing the jocks of all trades has not yet been announced, but previous years included Raiders Running Back Josh Jacobs and Pro Football Hall of Famer and Former Raider Marcus Allen.
The national anthem and “God Bless America” will be performed by Ret. Naval Petty Officer, 1st Class, Generald Wilson of St Louis. After singing at major sporting events all around the country, he has earned a reputation of bringing the house down with his powerful vocals.
This event is fit for all ages and makes for a great family outing. The kiddos won’t want to miss a chance at seeing the lively mascots frolicking on the field. The game will feature appearances by Chance, Spruce the Goose, Aviator among others.
Funds raised at the game will benefit the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, which will donate the money to a pair of local non-profit organizations: Communities in Schools of Nevada and Maximum Hope Foundation.
Communities in Schools of Nevada works to help students stay in school by assisting them with everything from basic supplies to emotional support. Maximum Hope Foundation, founded by comedian Brad Garrett, aims to provide financial assistance to help with housing and other expenses to aid families with children in critical care who are struggling with life-threatening illnesses.
Battle For Vegas was initiated in 2019. The event has raised more than $350,000 for local philanthropic organizations. The game not only gives Vegas’ hometown heroes a chance at earning some “bragging rights,” but also goes towards supporting a good cause.
Tickets for the event start at $35. Battle For Vegas tickets are available for purchase online.
