Art Houz Theaters opens this Thursday, May 6. Located at 814 S. 3rd Street in the former Eclipse Theaters, Art Houz features five theaters that will show first-run films, indie flicks and classics.

Opening week films include the award-winning drama “Nomadland,” martial arts action-comedy “The Paper Tigers,” and indie comedy drama “Mainstream.”

The venue also has three theater rooms for private events and sporting event screenings, along with a full restaurant and bar.

“We hope to capture guests who are looking for a total entertainment experience,” Shawn Barrack, director of operations at Art Houz, says.

In the works since August, Art Houz has completely renovated the interior of the former Eclipse building to make it more warm and inviting to both movie goers and diners, with seating added throughout the venue and outdoor patio.

The restaurant features upscale American classics including a variety of small bites like nachos, spinach artichoke canapés, and honey sriracha cauliflower; an assortment of flatbreads; and entrees such as filet mignon, southern chicken with collard greens, and pasta carbonara.

Guests can dine at the restaurant or have food delivered directly to their seat in the theater from their mobile device to ensure Covid safe service. The entire team has been trained on Cinema Safe Covid-19 protocols, Shawn adds.

“Our motto at the Art Houz is ‘More Than a Movie!’
We want our guests to join us for dinner, dinner and drinks, a movie, and hopefully all three.”

Shawn Barrack

While the pandemic may have shifted the way we consume media, Shawn is hopeful that people will want to continue the decades-old tradition of going to the movies, be it as a family outing or a date night.

“We know people want to feel safe and can easily stream their movie choices into their homes. However, we do feel that people are ready to start returning to a sense of normalcy and with that comes entertainment,” Shawn says. “Our motto at the Art Houz is ‘More Than a Movie!’ We want our guests to join us for dinner, dinner and drinks, a movie, and hopefully all three.”

Art Houz Theaters is open from Thursday to Sunday from 1 p.m. until close (last show 12 a.m.); Also, the restaurant will be open from Thursday to Sunday from  12 p. m. until close (last seating 11 p.m.).
