5 Wonderful Ways to Picnic in Las Vegas this Spring

Want to enjoy a cool breeze while eating alfresco? Here are five ways to throw a picnic party

Springtime in Las Vegas usually has daily temperatures ranging between the 70s and 80s, which means it’s the ideal time of year to have a picnic before the 100 degree weather arrives.

Never short on variety, this town offers several ways to throw an alfresco feast. Indulge in a luxury outdoor dining experience with charcuterie boards and wine or pack a home cooked meal to enjoy beside the lake. This a glimpse of the endless possibilities.

Here are five wonderful ways to picnic in Las Vegas during the spring time.

For Bon Vivants

Level up a casual gathering with Las Vegas Picnic Parties, a local business curating luxurious picnic packages.

Picnic Parties offer seven different experiences that fit different occasions, which include: Build Your Dream Picnic, Romantic Picnics, Proposal Picnics, Group Picnics, Hotel Picnics, Movie Night Picnics and Company Picnics.

Build Your Dream Picnic is a customized picnic pop-up with several style choices. After selecting a date, they offer a selection of color palettes to match the desired vibe. Luxury picnics can be themed to fit the following aesthetics:

Bohemian is a setup with neutral tones, burnt oranges and cream color.

Neutral consists of a palette of white, blues and light brown.

Romantic themed layouts set the tone with deep reds and white.

Tropical inspired picnics are adorned with bright greens, yellows and oranges.

If none of these fit your vision, the form leaves room to add a description of what type of picnic you want to create.

Then, pick a location that coincides with your vision. They also offer the option to host an elevated picnic at home.

Finally, Picnic Parties provide add-ons to upgrade festivities. Charcuterie boards (including vegan options), individual picnic boxes, floral arrangements, personalized cookies or cakes, photo events, balloon garland and customized walls with balloon or floral decorations.

If you are on a budget and seeking to host a family get together, we’ve done some research to help you out.

For Family Reunions

Nevada is home to 27 state parks, which means there are several scenic spots to picnic. To narrow it down, in terms of space and amenities, Sunset Regional Park is a great place to host a family picnic. The award-winning park is the largest park in Clark County and offers a long list of pleasantries fit for all tribes.

Sunset Regional Park is equipped with 22 picnic areas available on a first come, first serve basis as well as nine reservable areas. Not only does the park provide picnic areas, but also several sections for group activities. Sunset boasts a lake perfect for fishing (license required), basketball courts, softball fields, playgrounds, a dog park, jogging trails and a generous amount of wide open spaces.

Local tip: The park hosts several events such as The Age of Chivalry Renaissance Fair. To avoid an overcrowded experience, make sure to plan the picnic on a day when there isn’t an event.

Looking for a scenic spot to enjoy good food with your best friends? We’ve got you.

For Casual Lunches

For a modest picnic with a tight-knit group of friends, escape to Mount Charleston. The sea of trees on the mountain feels worlds apart from the fast-paced city. Aside from the picturesque scenery, the state park features about 13 recreational areas fitting for a small picnic. Some of the areas require a modest fee for access. While other spots among the campgrounds and picnic sites may be reserved in advance.

With a half-mile stretch of open meadow, Lower Lee Meadows and Upper Lee Meadows is a serene setting that is great for a casual picnic. This is the best spot for birdwatching and possibly seeing wildlife. Sightings of wild horse and endangered Mount Charleston Blue Butterflies are a few other reasons to settle and snack on this side of the mountain.

Local tip: If you want to picnic in an area with a fee, bring cash. Some are cash-only. To reserve a place for a picnic, visit recreation.gov to make arrangements.

Although picnics are not commonly synonymous with adventures, that doesn’t mean you can’t combine the two and create the most epic picnic experience ever.

For Thrill-seekers

A sit down lunch outside hardly sounds like a thrill-seeker’s idea of fun, right? It depends. While a traditional picnic might be too mundane for a daredevil, a helicopter ride with a picnic might be the perfect balance of both experiences.

In Las Vegas, just about anything is possible, including a Champagne picnic in the heart of the Grand Canyon. Maverick Helicopter’s Wind Dancer Tour transports adventurers from most Las Vegas hotels to a helicopter terminal. From there, they fly guests 3,500 feet below the rim. After landing in the Grand Canyon, the trip includes stunning views, Champagne and picnic snacks.

Local tip: The experience runs about 4 hours (hotel to hotel) long from start to finish. Be sure to wear comfy clothes for hiking and walking around the canyon. Dress according to the weather conditions.

If heights isn’t your thing, we understand. No one wants a bad case of vertigo. There are other ways to swoon someone special like having a Mystery Picnic.

For Romantics

Depending on how one defines “romantic,” some of the picnic ideas above may swoon particular couples. If luxury picnics, mountain meadows or helicopter rides aren’t your thing, then you might want to book a Mystery Picnic.

To embark on a Mystery Picnic, first you pick a destination. Then, you personalize your dietary needs and select a date. While using your smartphone, you’ll solve clues that lead you to local eateries to gather picnic goodies. After you’ve collected all the picnic essentials, then you take them to your chosen picnic destination and enjoy all the delicious food you’ve picked up from local restaurants.

This concept is a great way to discover new hometown hotspots and to try new things. Plus, it’s a unique way to connect and also eliminates the stress of planning a date night. Whether you are on your first date or celebrating your wedding anniversary, going on a Mystery Picnic is one way to make delightful memories together.
