Nevada State Treasurer’s Office Hosts ‘Women + Money Financial Empowerment Summit’

Powerful women unite to provide access to valuable financial information, resources and workshops

Women’s History Month is in March, making it an ideal time for the Nevada Treasurer’s Office to support an event elevating women business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Although the number of women-owned businesses in America is increasing, they still make up less than half of all companies in the country. For every female entrepreneur, there are three male entrepreneurs. In fact, Nevada ranked among the top five states for women-owned business growth in terms of overall numbers, employment, and revenue in 2019. But there is still work to be done to support women-owned businesses, especially when a VISA report reveals that 73 percent of businesswomen find it difficult to get funding.

So how can businesswomen struggling to fund their companies discover new ways to invest in their organizations?

Enter ‘The Women Money + Financial Empowerment Summit.’ It is a one-day event focused on bringing women of all ages, cultures and financial situations to learn together. The summit will be on Wednesday, March 22 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MEET Las Vegas.

What is the ‘Women + Money Financial Empowerment Summit’?

This gathering is an opportunity for the community to support women leaders as they navigate the difficulties of financial security. This conference’s $40 per person tickets have already sold out, and 250 people are anticipated to attend.

Over 30 powerful women leaders will provide participants with invaluable knowledge through seminars and workshops. Speakers expected to be present at the summit are Sandra Douglass Morgan, president of the Las Vegas Raiders; Chief Jacqueline Gravatt of the North Las Vegas Police Department; Dr. Kim Nehls, assistant dean for External Relations of Lee Business School and many more. The guest speakers will share their knowledge on a wide variety of important topics, including grant writing, entrepreneurship, leadership, saving for college, financial planning and investing, and retirement, to name a few.

The event offers both established and emerging business leaders an opportunity to gain insights from skilled speakers, make connections with like-minded professionals, learn more about the industry, build brand recognition and spark inspiration.

A Quick Overview of the Dynamic Itinerary

Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx, once said, “Don’t be intimidated by what you don’t know. That can be your greatest strength and ensure that you do things differently from everyone else.”

This rare opportunity is designed to assist women business owners, to build relationships with other women entrepreneurs and ask knowledgable professionals questions in person. There will be keynote speakers, financial planning workshops, and several question-and-answer sessions with expert panelists. Seasoned women professionals will discuss their experiences and how they positively impact the organizations they oversee. Attendees will also get a complimentary breakfast and lunch during the event. During each breakout session, guests must select one topic for each time slot. Find the full itinerary here.

Sponsors of the ‘Women + Money Financial Empowerment Summit’ are Wells Fargo, Southwest Gas, and the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, among others.
