Where to eat and drink around Las Vegas this week

Go level 10 at a new Thai restaurant inside Virgin Hotels, try the first-ever Easter brunch at Zuma in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and pay tribute to a local culinary luminary gone way too soon.

Night + Market

Popular Los Angeles Thai restaurant Night + Market is spicing up the new Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. From Kris Yenbamroong, expect highly flavorful, high-intensity Thai drinking food with very little modifications. Meant to be shared with good friends, try the French fries with ranch, which pairs remarkably well with the selection of sweet and bold cocktails like the Mai Thai.

Then, dip into a selection from the Thai raw bar. The Northern Thai-style fried skin-on chicken thigh sandwich defies gravity piled with papaya slaw, ranch dressing, jalapeños and cilantro—it will burn your face off. In the mood for decadent noods? Don’t miss the Pad Kee Mao, drunken noodles with pastrami and the lobster Pad Thai, which is fresh and light with a familiar tone of peanuty sweetness—both go ideally with the James Beard-nominated “Best Wine Program” of natural wines.

Zuma Brunch

Taking a cue from brunch offerings at other locations in Miami and Boston, Zuma in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will host its first-ever Easter brunch April 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The bottomless savory-forward menu features small plates such as avocado salad, prawn and black cod gyoza, sweet corn with shiso butter, salmon tartare, a selection of maki, sushi and sashimi and more—alongside entrées such as spicy beef tenderloin with sweet chili soy, Chilean sea bass with shishito-ginger dressing, one-pound roasted lobster with shiso lime butter and a Wagyu tomahawk wasabi, to name a few.

Libations will be flowing throughout the dining experience with various bottomless Champagne, signature cocktail and sake options based on classic or premium package selection. Plus, the experience closes out with Zuma’s epic dessert platter.

Pricing is $95 for the classic, which includes bottomless Champagne (Roederer Brut Premier), Ozaka Spritz, Lychee Rose Martini, Raspberry Passion, Bellini and Mimosa and bottomless soda; or the Premium for $295, which includes bottomless Champagne (Dom Perignon), Cold Sake (Zuma Fukukomachi junmai ginjo), bottomless access to the full cocktail menu, Bellini and Mimosa and bottomless soda.

Tribute to Bobby Silva

In response to the sudden passing of Sparrow + Wolf Chef de Cuisine Bobby Silva, Chef/Owner Brian Howard has assembled 10 other chefs who knew and worked with Silva to pay tribute to his life and career with a dinner and gathering on Monday, April 5, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The participating chefs are Howard, Gary LaMorte, Justin Kingsley Hall, Nicole Brisson, Shaun King, Brian Lhee, Sung Park, Bill Kang, Marc Marrone, Roy Ellamar and Johnny Church.

Cocktails will be created by Anthony Jamison, Alyssa Ocampo, David Cooper and others. Entertainment will include Dan Fester and more to be announced. The event will take place in the alley at Vegas Test Kitchen on East Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas. The evening will also include a live auction with contributions from additional local chefs and restaurants. Product sponsors include West Coast Prime Meats, Samuels & Sons, Vesta coffee and others to be announced.

Seats will be sold via SecretBurger.com for $125, with an opportunity to contribute more and/or buy a seat for someone in the industry who is unable to pay. One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit Silva’s family. A GoFundMe account for the family has also been set up.
