Wakuda is Coming, Plus Where to Brunch and New Bites at a Westside Fave

Where to eat and drink around Las Vegas this week

On this week’s Tasty Tuesday, we learn what’s a Wakuda, eat a delicious biscuit and brunch of Water Street and a westside favorite has a new chef, menu items and cocktails.


In spring 2022, the Las Vegas dining scene will get Wakuda Las Vegas—a Japanese restaurant at The Venetian Resort.

Wakuda is the brainchild of decorated chef Tetsuya Wakuda and restaurateur John Kunkel’s 50 Eggs Hospitality Group—a vibrant, artful collision of time and culture, capturing the tension between traditional and modern Japan in a bold and thoughtful way through cuisine, design and art.

The Japanese restaurant will be in the lobby of The Palazzo tower, with a patio overlooking the famed Las Vegas Strip.

Its opening comes on the heels of a multi-year expansion of the resort’s culinary program, bringing 12 dynamic new restaurants to the property since 2019.

The eponymous Wakuda will be the acclaimed 50 Best chef’s first restaurant in the U.S., joining his two-Michelin-Star Waku Ghin at Marina Bay Sands Singapore and popular Tetsuya’s in Sydney, Australia.

Yardbird, Chica, Spritz and Capri — which have consistently been among The Venetian’s highest-rated dining destinations.  Kunkel’s 50 Eggs group currently counts 12 restaurants in its global portfolio, with several more currently in development.

Sticks Tavern

Whether guests are looking for a bottomless beverage brunch or just excellent food to eat while watching the game, Sticks Tavern is the place for just that.  Sunday brunch will be available every week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. making it perfect for a Sunday outing along the revitalized Water Street.

Executive Chef Trevor Garrett and Culinary Director Jordan Camacho have curated a decadent brunch menu featuring brunch classics like stuffed French toast and eggs Benedict in addition to Sticks Tavern exclusives, including:

  • Chicken in a Biscuit featuring Sticks Tavern’s house-made rotisserie chicken and cheddar baked in a large seasoned biscuit topped with a sunny side up egg and housemade schmaltz gravy ($12)
  • Pork Belly Sandwich complete with pork belly, eggs, and cheese sauce on a locally baked bun served with home fries ($12)

Spend Sunday sipping on curated cocktails like Ancho Chile Margarita ($12) made with silver tequila, Ancho Reyes, agave nectar, and fresh lime juice or the Sticks Boulevardier ($12) made with Vegas Golden Knights bourbon, Aperol, vermouth, and garnished with an orange peel. Sticks Tavern is also serving up multiple bottomless options including mimosas ($24); beermosas ($24) made with Montucky Cold Snacks, amaretto, and orange juice; Bloody Marys ($24); and Aperol Spritzes ($29).

Sticks Tavern is located across from the Henderson Silver Knights’ Lifeguard Arena is open seven days a week, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m

Al Solito Posto

This week dive into new dinner items served at Al Solito Posto created by culinary creative, Executive Chef Steve Young:

  • Caprese Salad
  • P.E.I. Mussels
  • Frittella with burrata
  • Radiatori pasta
  • Plus, more entrees are on the way.

Pair their new dishes with new cocktails conceived by Beverage Director David Bonatesta. The drink menu includes large format, after dinner drinks, mocktails and more.

Happy Hour 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays for $7 to $8 cocktails $5 to $10 small plates.
