In the Worst Year Ever, There’s Nothing Wrong With Looking Back

Remember 2018? We sure do

This was supposed to be Las Vegas’ year. Heading into 2020, we were getting hot for another Golden Knights playoff run, the debut of the Las Vegas Raiders and the NFL Draft, maybe a casino opening or two, and big time residencies from Kelly Clarkson, The Jonas Brothers, and so many others.

That’s all over now. So who could blame us for wanting to live in the past? We can’t take any vacations, so to get away from it all, we just scroll through our photo libraries looking at how great everything used to be.

Today’s time capsule: 2018. Oh, how we miss 2018, here’s a few of our favorite memories.

April – The Cosmopolitan Unveils ‘Opium’

Dusty Moonboots. Scottie. Captain Ann Tennille. That pervy robot. We should have taken this show to the moon just to avoid 2020.

May – The Palms Returns

The Palms came back huge in 2018 following a massive renovation that included new bars, restaurants, and an arts program that’s unrivaled in Las Vegas.

June – Vegas Golden Knights Reach Stanley Cup Finals

In their first year. Who cares how it turned out? The Golden Knights got to the Stanley Cup finals in their first year.

And…

That was a show. If the guys are listening, we’re ready to for them to come back as soon as possible.

September – Life Is Beautiful

The Weeknd was already huge when he took the stage in downtown Las Vegas on opening night. Now, with that synth track? Dude is nuclear.

December – Lady Gaga Debuts at Park MGM

Mother Monster was the biggest thing to hit Vegas in forever, and she made the yearlong wait worth it. A month later she debuted a jazz and piano show at NoMad. There’s no such thing as too much.
