From comedy podcasters to indie artists, be on the lookout for these rising stars at Life Is Beautiful this year
Life Is Beautiful is here and it’s overwhelming! That’s kind of the point. There are so many quality acts to see, activities to partake in and side roads to explore, that it’s easy to miss some artists who are about to break big. In the past, Life Is Beautiful (LIB)—often at The Huntridge Stage—has hosted many artists just before they became household names. Lizzo, Dua Lipa, Capital Cities, 21 Pilots, Haim and Portugal The Man are some of the musical talents that performed at LIB before they were radio regulars.
We caught up with Head of Music and Programming, Craig Nyman, to ask him about five acts to be on the lookout for at this year’s fest—so you can say you saw them back before everybody knew them.
Wet Leg
“If you look at [Wet Leg], they’re still being discovered. They’re still an emerging indie artist. They’re making the rounds and a name for themselves on the festival circuit. For a band to make it from the Isle of Wight and to come over to The States and just keep gaining momentum, they’re definitely pulling their weight this year and taking on as many shows and opportunities as possible. They’re primed for an amazing future ahead of themselves.”
Where: Huntridge Stage
When: Friday, September 17 at 6:50 p.m.
‘Going Deep with Chad and JT’
“Those guys are some of the funniest guys out there right now. When you talk about that moment of when you book someone and then they just explode, this is it. I’m so excited to have them. Their podcast is hysterical. The videos are hysterical. And then the Netflix series came out just recently, which we had no clue about when we booked them. It all happened so quickly. How can you not want to see this? They’re hysterical.”
Where: The Kicker Comedy and More
When: Saturday, September 17 at 2:45 p.m. and with Ricky Velez and Jordan Rock at 7:20 p.m.
Mochakk
“He’s a DJ from Brazil. He’s definitely got crazy energy. I think he’s had two tours to America since we announced him. He’s sold out every date in The States. He sings along to all the tracks he plays. His sets are super upbeat and a ton of fun. Inside The Fremont Tent, it’s just gonna be the craziest party with him.”
Where: Fremont Tent
When: Saturday, September 17 at 7:25 p.m.
Blu DeTiger
“She’s been called a bass virtuoso, but she can play so many different instruments and she can sing and she can write and she can DJ. It’s more of a thing you’d listen to on Alt Nation on SiriusXM or X107.5 on terrestrial radio, but she definitely crosses over though. Besides being at festivals, she does a lot of DJ sets where she plays live bass while DJing. We have an afterparty set up with her at The Sand Dollar at The Plaza. She’s one of those artists who has so much talent in them and is just figuring out really how talented she is.”
Where: Huntridge Stage and Toyota Music Den
When: Huntridge Stage, Friday, September 16 at 5:15 p.m. and Toyota Music Den at 9:15 p.m.
She will also perform a DJ set at The Sand Dollar Lounge at 10 p.m.
Tanner Adell
“She’s got it all. She’s got the look. She’s got the songs. She’s got the voice. She’s got a great story behind her. Her lyrics are perfect for today’s day and age. She’s gone viral a couple of times on TikTok. She’s on the move and her songs are awesome. Her new song “Tan Line” just dropped on September 2.”
Where: Western Country Club
When: Saturday, September 17 at 6 p.m.
