Drink, Dance and Dare to Ride LIFTOFF at Area 15

‘[The ride] is equivalent to the height of 17 giraffes’

LIFTOFF, an otherworldly flight experience, soars riders 130 feet up in the air where they take in a 360-degree panoramic view of Las Vegas.

This new Area 15 attraction took inspiration from the exhilaration aeronauts and aviators feel while flying, which is a fitting addition to their ever-changing entertainment venue.

The Grand Reveal during the media event on Wednesday, February 2 showcased the district’s latest conversation piece.

At the event, performers, dancers and team members wore attire in vein with the new thrill ride such as fur jackets, combat boots and colorful costumes. Area 15 revels in their ability to transport guests into another dimension.

LIFTOFF is another extension of the franchise’s knack for channeling an “Alice in Wonderland” like appeal while integrating Las Vegas’ larger-than-life persona.

Michael Beneville, chief creative officer at Area 15, who dressed in the “Area 15 aesthetic” that evening, elaborates on what inspired LIFTOFF.

“Aeronauts, Astronauts and Aviators sat, drank and dreamt of building a tower … And they did,” he told Off The Strip at the Grand Reveal.

The LIFTOFF Experience

Aerophile, known as the “world leader in balloon flight” in France, manufactured this new amusement ride. LIFTOFF’s debut as the first of its kind in the United States proved to be a hit during its invite-only launch party. If you missed the opening party, there’s no need to get FOMO because it is now open to the public.

When guests arrive, they will find the attraction adjacent to Art Island located in front of Area 15. The immersive experience begins at the base of the triple-helix tower set in the LIFTOFF Lounge. This is where visitors meet “Gilly.”

Las Vegas artist Orion Fredericks created  “Gilly” — a 21-foot-long and 16 feet tall steel sculpture “greeting” guests.

The open-air seating arrangement is spacious and an ideal spot for gatherings with friends or family. The lounge includes a full service bar serving beer, wine, cocktails plus alcohol-free beverages.

Tip: Be sure to check the weather before heading over there because in the winter time Vegas does get cold. Bundle up to stay warm because the entire experience is set outside.

While living in the moment, a dancer in character tells Off The Strip, “ [LIFTOFF] is equivalent to the height of 17 giraffes!” Some things that happen in Vegas, even the most imaginative individual couldn’t make up.

Must-Try LIFTOFF Libations

Take a look at some of the mouthwatering libations offered at the lounge. Souvenir cups are also available for an additional cost. Here are a few cocktails on their menu:

Tip: We recommend ordering “The Moon” shot. It’s a sweet shot that packs a punch.

In addition to the bar, the kick back area features a DJ spinning upbeat EDM music, which matches the mood of the eccentric and playful decor.

Prep Right for A smooth ‘Flight’

On the ride, guests can bring a drink. Yes, it is true. You might want a bit of liquid courage while your feet dangle 115 feet above the ground. While we’re talking about what it’s like on the flight adventure, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Don’t wear open toe shoes, only GoPro cameras are permitted for filming while on LIFTOFF, guests are given lanyards to hold their phones while on the ride and the ride attendant is super friendly.

This attraction is a family-friendly ride. For children at least 42-inches tall who are 12 years of age or older, the price is $12. Adult tickets cost $18. For packages that include beverage perks, passes start at $26.
Thrillseekers won’t want to miss out on a LIFTOFF adventure.
