‘Particle Ink: Speed of Dark’ Brings New Immersive Entertainment Experience to Downtown

The new exhibit will be at The LightHouse in the Las Vegas Arts District

UPDATE: Due to the high demand, Particle Ink is adding on seven additional weeks of shows, extending through Labor Day.

Step inside an abandoned warehouse to enter a portal leading you to the 2.5th dimension, merging the physical world and the virtual world. This is just a taste of what the mixed reality experience, “Particle Ink: Speed of Dark,” is bringing to 18b Las Vegas Arts District. The otherworldly attraction is slated to open on April 16. The Particle Ink Metaverse is set for a 12-week run (April 16-July 17). Cesar Hawas, Executive Producer of Particle Ink, is thrilled the experience will be emerging in the downtown arts scene.

“We are excited to bring ‘Speed of Dark’ to the world for the first time in the Las Vegas Arts District,” said Cesar Hawas in a statement. “As Las Vegas emerges as an immersive entertainment hub, it provides the ideal location to push the boundaries of art, technology and theatricality.”

The unique concept comes from the creative minds of The LightPoets. Through projection mapping and new proprietary interactive technologies, the 6,000 square foot venue transforms into another realm. The show features a lively blend of acrobatics, puppetry, street art and hip-hop dance. Guests are free to roam the space while the performances unfold around them. The mixed reality experience is designed to be an intimate, interactive exploration between the ink and the page.

In “Speed of Dark,” graphic novel characters will “leap from the walls” inside of The Lighthouse. Visitors become immersed in a story revealing events that forever changed the lives of a grieving artist and his wife, Lilith. Described as a place “where the rabbit waits before being pulled out of the hat,” the cryptic clues leave plenty of room for the imagination to run wild.

The artwork in the preview images and brief video clip exude a dark science fiction aesthetic mixed with intriguing fantasy elements. The Particle Ink universe fully immerses guests without the use of any virtual reality wearables. Fans of Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart (inside of Area 15) are likely to gravitate towards Particle Ink’s forthcoming futuristic daydream.

Particle Ink, the entertainment company behind this project, has team members that previously worked with Cirque du Soleil, Sleep No More and Disney Imagineering. Keeping that in mind, the teasers promoting the experience give the impression that this attraction will be packed with captivating animation and stunning special effects.

The production team hopes for this experience to become a permanent fixture in the Las Vegas Arts District and to eventually open LightHouses all over the globe.

The “Particle Ink: Speed of Dark” experience is about an hour long, but upon arrival visitors may browse leisurely through The LightHouse. Showings will be on Wednesdays through Sundays at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are now available for purchase and standard pricing starts at $49.50 per person. According to their website, private bookings for both large and small groups are available. No flash-photography or recording is allowed.

The LightHouse is located at 918 Main Street in 18b Las Vegas Arts District.

Plan your trip to “Particle Ink: Speed of Dark” to experience the latest downtown attraction.
