David Matlow - Theodor Herzl and the Power of Dreams
The Jewish State that Theodor Herzl envisioned exists, so why is Herzl still important? Herzls magic was that he was not just a dreamer, he was also a doer. Herzls actions ultimately led to the birth of the State of Israel 44 years after his death. We all have the capacity to be a little like Herzl: to have big impossible dreams and to make them come true. Illustrated through items in his collection of Herzl memorabilia, the worlds largest, David Matlow will tell Herzls story and share the lessons that Herzl continues to teach us. He will demonstrate how Herzl remains relevant, from New Yorks Times Square and Citi Field to a distressed suburb of Chicago where Herzl is considered to be like a Martin Luther King, Jr., to each of us. He will challenge us to ask ourselves What would Herzl do? and respond by working to complete Herzls dream.
