Soul Shop: Ministering to Faith Communities Affected by Suicide
The American Foundation for Suicide Preventions Nevada chapter is sponsoring a Soul Shop suicide prevention training May 14, 2020 at Las Vegas City Hall. This location has been provided by the Nevada State Office of Suicide Prevention, and we thank them for their support. This one-day training provides core guidance for faith leaders to respond to suicidality and other impacts of desperation in their communities. This training is appropriate for those who lead a faith community (e.g. Pastor, Rabbi, Imam, Deacon, Minister) or those who are in a leadership or teaching role with members of a faith community (e.g. youth minister, spiritual teacher). It is also appropriate for several leaders in a single faith community to attend. Michelle Snyder, Soul Shop Director, joined the Soul Shop team in 2014 and will be leading this workshop. Michelle has dual training in mental health (Masters in Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Worker) and theology (Masters in Divinity). Registration for the event is available for a $50 standard fee or a $20 student fee. Registration includes all workshop materials, continental breakfast and lunch! Lunch will be provided by True Care Treatment Centers. The training will take place in the Training rooms #3 and #4 on the first floor.
