The final sign that the Holidays are here, is well, here at Ellis Island Casino. First, the coffee chains declare it so with the release of gingerbread-this, or gingerbread-that drink, in hot or cold of course.

Second Seasonal Sign

Second is more important, frankly is the cue from one Ms. Mimi. That’s right, Mariah Carey declares it so with the annual release of “All I Want For Christmas,” the official signal that the holidays are here.

From Hollywood With Love

The third and final signal is the return of Tim, Liam, Clark and Ferrell. As in Tim Burton and his classic “Nightmare Before Christmas,” Liam Neeson in “Love, Actually,” Clark Griswold in “National Lampoon’s Vacation,” and Will Ferrell as Buddy the “Elf.”  All four favorite holiday films are a part of the holiday celebrations taking place at The Front Yard at Ellis Island.

Ellis Island Casino Movie Schedule

The movie schedule for the holiday film viewings is below.

National Lampoon’s Vacation – December 15 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

ELF – December 22 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Dine on seasonal specials with DIY Gingerbread men and gourmet popcorn. Reservations for the movie nights and good grub are available at OpenTable.

Holiday Favorites

According to Rotten Tomatoes (of which this writer is an approved RT critic) the top five holiday movies (from 1-5) are: “It’s A Wonderful Life,” “Miracle on 34th Street”, “Holiday Inn,” “The Shop Around the Corner” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

An informal poll at my local Starbucks had the barista group deciding that Elf is the clear and dominant winner. Most hadn’t even heard of many of the others in the top five. It should be said that the average age of those informally polled was 24. Insert facepalm emoji here.

Jack And Gingerbread

On Tuesday, December 14th get your building skills on with the Front Yards Jack and Gingerbread House Night. Your $20 ticket will get you a gingerbread kit with two gingerbread men, icing, and decorations along with a Jack Daniels cocktail of choice.

Event is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cherry Christmas Cocktails

The annual Ellis Family Holiday Nog is back. It has  a new name and new label.

The longtime Las Vegas winter favorite is back for it’s 19th round of holidays. Those who know, know how good that nog is. Seven dollars will get ya a glass or $35 will get ya a bottle.

With two-stories of decks and halls, The Front Yard has an indoor-outdoor beer garden making it perfect for even more christmas concoctions for consumption. Special drinks will be had until the end of the year.

The Front Yard, Other Events

The Front Yard, as always, treats game day like something special. There are weekly game day menus along with specials to go along with them. Three menus are there for you: brunch, lunch and dinner. Live Music is also played Friday and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

For more information, visit the Front Yard’s website.
