Motown Legend Smokey Robinson to Perform at Venetian Theatre

Presale tickets to Smokey Robinson will be available October 19-21

Fresh off his appearance at the star-studded Power of Love gala in Las Vegas, singer/songwriter and Motown Records legend Smokey Robinson has booked two shows at The Venetian Theatre on the Strip.

Robinson, 81, will perform March 11 and 12, 2022 at the Venetian’s namesake theater – his first for the venue and also his first back-to-back shows since a three-night gig at Encore Theater in 2019. The singer is no stranger in Las Vegas, having a solo residency and a 40th anniversary Miracles residency at the Hilton (now Westgate) hotel in the 1990s.

Presale tickets to Robinson’s shows will be available October 19-21, and tickets to the general public go on sale October 22 at 10 a.m. at the Venetian website.

Smokey Honored at Power of Love Gala

The Venetian announcement comes on the heels of Robinson’s show-stopping appearance at Keep Memory Alive’s 25th annual Power of Love gala at Resorts World Las Vegas on October 16, which raises funds and awareness for the city’s Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

The event also paid tribute to Robinson’s musical legacy, with actor Anthony Anderson taking the stage to present the singer with an award. In his acceptance speech, Robinson recalled former Miracles member Bobby Rogers, who suffered from dementia in his later years and died from complications of diabetes in 2013.

“We were born on the same day in the same hospital and sang together for 12 years,” Robinson said. “Every year on our birthday, we would call each other. He passed away several years ago, and I called him the year he passed, and he had no idea who I was. It’s a horrible disease.”

The gala’s tribute to Robinson included several stars performing some of his classic hits, including Jordin Sparks, performing “My Guy” and Kenny Loggins performing “Shop Around.” Robinson also took the microphone, previewing his upcoming Venetian shows with performances of “Tracks of My Tears” and “Being With You.”

The Power of Love gala also paid tribute to hit-making singer and producer Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, with Demi Lovato, Bruno Mars, Charlie Wilson, Tori Kelly, Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman, and AJ McLean among those in attendance.
