Celebrate Sneaker Day in Vegas with athletes, collectors and shoe lovers

Trainers.
Kicks.
Whatever you call them, you have to know they are revered. You know they have cemented a place in pop culture that is rarely seen by other products. And yes, you have likely seen the long lines of people waiting to get their hands on the latest and greatest pair.
At the risk of dating my generation, for us, it was all about the Air Jordans. For this latest troop of teens, it is the collaborations from shoemakers and musicians like Bad Bunny and J Balvin that are “fire.”
Regardless, we can all agree there is a huge market for sneakers. Heck, there is even a Sneaker Con that happens every year. And you should not be surprised that there is actually a National Sneaker Day (inside Sneaker Month), which is today, October 9, and incidentally the reason for this article.
Sneakers go so far beyond footwear. They even go further than a status symbol. Dare we say, they are even meant for family fun? Well, we didn’t say that, but sneaker aficionado and owner of Max Pawn, Michael Mack sure did. He came to that realization after attending a Sneaker Con in Shanghai.
“What I really loved about it being a dad of two, two young boys. I saw a whole trading area in the back section. Mack prefers this for his boys over them spending the day in front of a computer, Xbox, Playstation or phone. He compares it to his generation’s lemonade stand.

Serious buyers and collectors will tell you that they are valuable, very valuable in fact. “We’ve seen the Back to the Future Nikes that are over $10,000,” he says. Hefty price tag aside his shop has seen members of the Vegas Golden Knights, the Las Vegas Raiders and Boxer Floyd Mayweather come through and come through on the regular.
