Station Casinos Announces Durango Resort in Southwest Las Vegas

The project is scheduled to break ground in early 2022

If you’re living in the southwest Las Vegas valley, congratulations. Soon, you won’t have to drive so far to find a locals casino.

Station Casinos on Wednesday released renderings and details for its long-anticipated southwest resort project, dubbed Durango, a Station Casinos Resort. Having received approval from the Clark County Commission, the company will now move forward on development at South Durango Drive adjacent to the 215 Beltway.

“Inspired by the warm colors and vibrant landscape of the desert,” Durango’s amenities reflect those of Station’s most popular suburban resorts, Red Rock and Green Valley Ranch. Among them: an 83,000-square-foot casino with a race and sportsbook, 200-plus room hotel tower, food hall, four signature restaurants, a resort pool, 20,000 square feet of meeting space – the works. All that’s missing from the announcement is the bowling alley and movie theater, and no one would be surprised if those are in place by opening day.

The project is scheduled to break ground in early 2022. An opening date hasn’t been announced.

Meet the Neighbors

Long in the works, the Durango project is likely to serve as a centerpiece in the fast-growing southwest. Its neighbors include IKEA to the north and the in-progress UnCommons development to the west.

The latter, a mixed-use project consisting of office, retail, dining, and residential space, will be home to, among other companies, the second-largest DraftKings office in the country. The sports betting operator this week announced it would open a 90,000-square-foot technology hub at UnCommons, one that will employ more than 1,000 people.

A new, $200 million dollar apartment complex is also slated just one block to the east.
