Chef Ismaele Romano brings his masterpiece to Koval Lane
By Toni Gonzales | Las Vegas, NV | Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery
How good does this sound? Porchetta and eggplant in a sandwich served on kale and dandelion-infused focaccia bread. Is your mouth watering yet? It should be, this creation won the World Sandwich Championship earlier this month (August). It comes from the brain of Chef Ismaele Romano. The sandwich and the chef are so good they are getting their own spot at Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery. It’s called Via Focaccia. Honestly, anything with focaccia is a win.
But, it’s not all about the focaccia. There will be other offerings at the casual artisan sandwich shop opening soon. The menu hasn’t been 100% solidified yet, but a look at Chef’s instagram page and you can cue the waterworks inside your mouth. Sandwiches that will make you salivate. Pastas perfect for your pallett. And pizzas that will have you deleting favorite pizza delivery numbers from your contact list.
Chef Ismaele isn’t new to Las Vegas. He was one half of the pair at Contento Pizzeria & Bar inside Jerry’s Nugget in North Las Vegas. From there Chef would go on to downtown Las Vegas’s Good Pie at Pawn Plaza. Both would close and eventually free up Ismaele to make his way to Ellis Island.
When guests are welcome to Via Focaccia, you will find it on the casino floor in September, the exact date is TBD. Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery is located at 4250 Koval Ln, Las Vegas, NV. You can find more information at their website.
