Opportunity Village’s 17th Annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run is Set

Get that Santa Suit out of the closet, lace up those sneakers and go for a run December 4

Santa is coming! Santa is coming! Correction: Santas, plural, are coming! ‘Ol Saint Nick has given his approval for F-U-N in the D-T-L-V. Opportunity Village’s 17th Annual Great Las Vegas Santa Run is back and in person for 2022.

But wait, there’s more. This year there are several ways to get into the holiday spirit. So many in fact, we venture to say that DTLV will look like the North Pole on Saturday, December 4.

Run Rudolph Run!

Lace up the sneakers, put on your Santa suit and get your cardio in for the day. Run either a 5k or 1-mile course, the choice is yours. Make sure to do your warm-up stretches because there’s a pre-show affair starting at 8 a.m. at the Fremont Street Experience.

Once runners or walkers cross the finish line at the Llama Lot, there is an after-party. Ya know, because it’s Vegas. The festivities include live entertainment, local vendors and many food truck options. Then, there’s presents in Santa’s red gift sack. In other words, turn up the music on your favorite song because it’s gonna be a  P-A-R-T-Y!

(Cue disclosure announcer voice heard on commercials)

Safety is paramount with the organizers of the Las Vegas Great Santa Run and the folks who run our fine city. Soooo, if you don’t want to be surrounded by Santa(s), you do have the option of participating in the run virtually. Let’s be honest, Santa has been all over the globe and likely been to his own party. Hey, we don’t know Santa’s life! If you want to run on your own, visit the event pages and use the hashtag #LVSantaRun between December 4-26.

An ‘Opportunity’ To pet-Stroll-fun (Three Separate Events)

A Pawty For Your Furry Best Friend

The event is, as always, for Opportunity Village. But this year the competition is being kicked up a notch. Actually, they are taking it up three notches with three different contests.

The first is a Pet Costume Contest hosted by Opportunity Village. Register your own pet and put them in their most outstanding outfit for the holidays. There are four awards up for your pet to get their paws. Enter your furry friend for a chance to win Best In-Show Performance, Most Creative, Best Themed Costume and Social Media winner.) Reindeers need not apply, as they no doubt have an unfair advantage over other pets. Otherwise, all other animals are welcome.

And, if your pet is concerned about safety too, there is a virtual pawty for them to opt into as well. Prizes will be awarded to the winners by event sponsors.

Benny the Ice Skating Dog will be among those judging the contest. Pets must be registered for the Las Vegas Great Santa Run to participate.

Fit4Mom Stroller Decorating Contest

For those families that have two-legged kids this one is for you! The Fit4Mom Decorating Contest will be rollin’ into the After-Party stage area at 11:45 a.m. Decorate your child’s carrier on wheels and register for a chance to win prizes. More info at the FIT4MOM booth will be available on-site. Entrants must register their strollers on the morning of the event from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Raise Your Hands For Fun, Fundraising That Is

Going on now until December 26 there is a fundraising contest for Opportunity Village. Participants have an incredible selection of prizes that have been donated by event sponsors. Prizes will be awarded to five winners in the following categories: Top Fundraising Team, Top Individual Fundraiser, 2nd Place Individual Fundraiser, 3rd Place Individual Fundraiser and Random Winner (because this is Vegas and someone always gets lucky). Winners will be notified by email and on social media prior to December 31.

All of the details on all the contests on the Las Vegas Great Santa Run can be found at LVSantaRun.com

Off The Strip is a proud sponsor of the Las Vegas Great Santa Run. Come and meet members of our staff along with all the great supporters of this event. We will be in the sponsorship area of the race.
