Ever find someone cool on Instagram and go down the rabbit hole? Meet @McKayInVegas

By OTS Staff

@OTS Staff: By day, you are …

@McKayInVegas: A stay-at-home mom to 2 littles, wife to a county firefighter. ????

OTS Staff: That’s literally ????. By night, you are …

McKay: A local Vegas Instagram guide!

OTS Staff: That we love … from one resource to another. ❤️

OTS Staff: How many years on Insta?

McKay: 2.5 years

OTS Staff: First post?

McKay: I believe it was an intro post explaining why I wanted to create this page. ????

OTS Staff: Did you have another page before, or did you get into the Insta game then?

McKay: No page before, this was my first one!

OTS Staff: Top post? And why do you think it broke the internet?

McKay: Before the pandemic, I put together themed girls night out events for local ladies. Dinner, activity, swag bags … the works! My last one (which was a Galentine’s event almost exactly one year ago) went crazy when I posted about it. The tickets sold out in under a minute, and I was freaking out trying to hurry and shut the link off. I couldn’t believe how much that blew up. I think it just shows how much we need connection and time to let loose and have fun! I can’t wait to do them again.

OTS Staff: So clever and fun. Why do you love Insta?

McKay: I love the sense of it being a little virtual community. I’ve been able to meet so many incredible local business owners and people because of this space.

OTS Staff: Can you live without it?

McKay: I like to think so, but I would really miss it. It’s been super fun and rewarding.

OTS Staff: Fave follow?

McKay: Fave follow lately would be @heymakerco because they feature local businesses and are all about connecting makers with the community. I’ve discovered new Vegas makers because of them.

OTS Staff: Love love love!

OTS Staff: TikTok?

McKay: Nope! I’ve never ever even been on it.

OTS Staff: It’s a rabbit hole.

McKay: Exactly. I’m already on my phone too much. ????

OTS Staff: Account you can’t live without?

McKay: @vegasfamilyguide because they’re great about updating their page with local updates, school info, the best local parks, etc. And @offthestrip, of course!

OTS Staff: Yay! Best Las Vegas deal right now?

McKay: Oooh, we just stayed at @gvrcasino last week because resort fees are waived for locals through March, and the rates are super low. It was amazing!

OTS Staff: Love a staycay.

OTS Staff: So spill it, what’s the best birthday brunch?

McKay: ???? I love The Stove or Bottiglia for brunch off The Strip.

OTS Staff: Greatest wish for 2021?

McKay: Just to see our city start to recover from this past year and for the community to come together to keep as many businesses thriving as possible.

OTS Staff: Next evolution of your account? Do you love the guides feature?

McKay: I’d love to circle back to doing more events for locals and to just continue to be a guide and resource!

McKay: I do love doing local guides, there are so many incredible businesses here!

OTS Staff: Tag a bestie?

McKay: @heymace – this page wouldn’t exist without her encouragement!

OTS Staff: Looooooovvvveeees it!!! Oh and one last question … what should we do this weekend …?

McKay: I’ll be hitting up a farmers market! The weather is perfect for the one at Downtown Summerlin or Tivoli … then go for a yum brunch after. 😉

OTS Staff: Thx you so much!!! Can’t wait to event with you soon.

McKay: Thank you for being my Insta BFF! ????
