Despite a lengthy delay and a Golden Knights loss, the outdoor venue was a spectacular sight
The NHL went outdoors on Saturday, as the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights faced off at the Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Stateline, Nevada.
After a lengthy delay due to deteriorating ice conditions, the Avalanche ended up besting the Golden Knights by a score of 3-2. The game started on time at 12 p.m. PT, but play was postponed until 9 p.m. after the first period.

The NHL has gone outdoors almost every year since 2008, but there has never been a game that looked as picturesque as this one.
Hockey Highlights
Even with the delay, the game provided some top-tier plays.
Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon did what he does best, burning the Golden Knights’ defense off the rush for a goal.
Golden Knights right wing Alex Tuch also got in on the action with a beautiful spin-o-rama tally.
All things considered, it was a phenomenal event for the NHL. The delay was an unfortunate turn of events, but the venue was spectacular.
Fans will have another opportunity to see the Lake Tahoe rink at 4:30 p.m. today when the Boston Bruins take on the Philadelphia Flyers.
