The winter season brings holiday shows, festive cocktail bars and of course, shopping discounts. It’s enough to make you want to dance… or nod your head while leaving it to a professional to bust out the moves. Either way, music is in the air and it’s time to feel the rhythm in Las Vegas.

Nevada Ballet Theatre

It’s a landmark year for the Nevada Ballet Theatre, as the dance company celebrates 50 seasons in Las Vegas. However, winter is all about one thing: performances of The Nutcracker at the Smith Center. The two-act production takes the stage inside Reynolds Hall on select dates between Dec. 11 and Dec. 26 (including four value-priced performances).  Performers will bring the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and other iconic moments to life as the Las Vegas Philharmonic performs Tchaikovsky’s timeless score. Ticket holders can also enjoy a bonus pre-show experience, The Nutcracker Wonderland, a decorative holiday environment with a series of photo stations inside the adjacent Troesch Theatre.

Contemporary West Dance Theatre

The Contemporary West Dance Theatre presents Cool Yule at the Charleston Heights Arts Center Dec. 17-19. Formerly known as the Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theater, the nonprofit dance troupe has been staging multicultural stage productions since 2007, including more than 60 ballets. Under the direction of founder Bernard H Gaddis, Cool Yule is a brand new show with holiday classics, festive cheer and audience sing-alongs. Tickets begin at just $10.

Fashion Show Las Vegas

Dance moves in a mall? Why not? The Fashion Show shopping center on the Strip is staging Holiday Glow, a show that combines runway models with acrobats and ballet dancers. Check it out Friday-Sunday through Dec. 24 with performances 11 a.m., 1 p.m, 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Make sure to also wander through Fashion Show’s Winter Wonderland experience for white trees, falling snow, ice sculptures and other decorations to get you and your family in a holiday mood. The mall is also one of the best places in Las Vegas to snap a photo with Santa.

Encore Beach Club

This time of year, nightclubs are usually associated with New Year’s Eve parties, but Encore Beach Club at Night is giving you a reason to celebrate early. The poolside party at the Wynn is hosting a yuletide holiday edition of its “Hype at Night” series on Dec. 15. Dress to impress and dance to the music of The Deux Twins all night long. The club, which includes a spacious outdoor deck, will be decorated in neon colors for a joyful glow-in-the-dark atmosphere. You’ll also see confetti, roaming stilt walkers, illuminated signs and over-the-top bottle service presentations. Doors open at 10:30 p.m.

Coke Zero Cool Yule at The Park

The Park outdoor promenade near New York-New York and the T-Mobile Arena transforms into Coke Zero Cool Yule, a winter-themed collection of decorations, twinkling lights and strolling Santas ready to meet families, take a photo and cross some names off the naughty list. Carolers and live performers will fill the air with music while breakdancing elves keep the crowds entertained. Enjoy holiday-themed drinks at Beerhaus and the Coke Zero Holiday Bar. The pop-up spectacle runs Dec. 10-12 and Dec. 18-19.
