Vegas Golden Knights hosting annual Toy Drive, benefitting local foster kids
Hey Vegas Golden Knights fans. Tis the season of giving. Your Golden Knights are keen on making sure every kid has a toy to open up this year.
On Sunday, December 5, 2021, the Vegas Golden Knights are hosting their annual Toy Drive. It will occur right before the team hits the ice to take on the Calgary Flames.
What fans Can bring
The Golden Knights ask fans to bring new, unwrapped toys for the collection to the Toshiba Plaza before the game. Cash donations are acceptable too. Participants may get an exclusive poster (while supplies last) at the Toy Drive.
All toys will be donated to CASA foundation, a local Vegas organization that supports foster children in Clark County. The Toy Drive has become a yearly tradition for the Golden Knights organization. It’s also part of the organization’s, “21 Days of Giving”.
“21 Days of Giving”
The “21 Days of Giving” is a three-week initiative presented by your Vegas Golden Knights supporting and representing the Las Vegas Community during the holiday season. For 21-days that started on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, the team constructs fun and helpful initiatives that come straight from the heart, rather than an obligation to make other’s holiday wishes come true.
Besides the annual Toy Drive, the Golden Knights will be taking special visits to local schools and hospitals to see the smiles and joy among parents and children’s faces. Las Vegas is a beautiful city, but it’s important to remember that there are always people out there who are in need of help and need a smile during these special times.
“The root Cause Behind Organizing a special Holiday Initiative”
Depending on whose point of view you’re looking at, the holiday is when people from all around the world celebrate what it means to give back and spend time getting together with loved ones. The Golden Knights are one of many NHL clubs that recognize this. Many in the organization have loved ones, significant others, or friends they care for and often don’t get to see. They are busy all year along with playing games and meeting important deadlines.
The “21 Days of Giving” has been an annual event since the Golden Knights have been in the league. The city’s initiatives trace back to the holiday of 2016. Back then, 13 Action News and the Nevada Highway Patrol wanted to figure out a way to give back to the people of Las Vegas. Their initiative was called, “The 13 Days of Giving”, that started on November 25, 2016, and ended on December 8, 2016.
This is why the Golden Knights Organization decided it would be fun to come up with initiatives for three-weeks in December that are based on a theme of “giving” rather than “receiving.”
