Visit Pine Hollow, The Only Winery in Las Vegas

Discover this instant viticultural classic, the first of its kind in Las Vegas

One thing attributed to Vegas living is a “strip mall warrior” mindset. Many of the city’s famous bars, restaurants and services live in unassuming office complexes and buildings. One such great place is Pine Hollow, Las Vegas’s only winery.

Trailblazing and Tasting

This isn’t the first time John and Barbara DiVirgilio have opened a winery. Their original hobby winery in Pennsylvania—on Pine Hollow Road, hence the name—operated from their 1920s home.

When they moved to Vegas in 2019, John and Barbara were more than just the first winery. They helped create and implement the process to bring their location—and future wineries in Las Vegas—to life.

“There were no ordinances in the city of the Vegas for wineries,” Barbara says. “There are for breweries and distilleries but not wineries. It took about six months; we helped them get the ordinances passed.”

After a year-long building permit approval, COVID and remodels, Pine Hollow opened its tasting room doors in February 2022. Tucked into the back of Fiesta Square Plaza on Charleston Boulevard, a cozy tasting room with merchandise and a charming, open bar await.

Vintages Venturing Beyond the West

While this side of the country loves its deep, dark reds, Pine Hollow wines cater to those with lighter, sweeter palate preferences. Grapes are imported from the other side of the country to maintain their signature “East Coast-style wines.”

“We do have a vineyard in the Lake Erie region in Pennsylvania that we deal with,” says Barbara, “and we have them ship barrels of juices to us. We also have our distributor. For example, our Merlot [comes] from Rhode Island.”

This commitment to their roots sets them apart from other Las Vegas wine bars purely for the uniqueness of the products at hand.

“We’re trying to source East Coast because out here, you can go anywhere and get a California-style wine,” Barbara explains, “so we really strive very hard to be different.”

Whole fruit wines with pears, strawberries and other tropical fruits are at the forefront of the menu selections. As a self-taught winemaker, John and Barbara strive to deliver consistent quality above anything else.

Their vintages have a wide range:

Niagara — A grape known throughout the East Coast for its approachable body and flavor, this is an unoaked delight for white wine fans that want something other than buttery, oaky Chardonnay.

Luscious Pear — Good luck getting your hands on this popular wine. First made from the pears of DiVirgilio’s pastor’s tree, this succulent selection sells out quickly.

Blackberry Zinger — All of the mouth-puckering goodness of fresh berries is fully present in this 9 percent ABV wine.

I Got The Blues-Berry — The Concord grapes come in strong on the nose, and the taste is pleasant and juicy.

Want a secret menu item? Combine the Blackberry Zinger and Blues-Berry wines together for a juicy flavor combination fit for all seasons.
