The Third Street Poetry Project, unveiled by the City of Las Vegas on March 21, features works from 10 Las Vegas poets: Heather Lang-CasseraVogue RobinsonRelldaTruthFlynn DexterAsh DelGregoBruce IssacsonRodney LeeKari OA.J. Moyer and Keith Brantley.

Several of the poems are inspired by the city itself, like Bruce Isaacson’s:

“Our City
Hard to believe she was
once a tumbleweed –
an unmoored bunch of
sticks blowing across
desert sand. But she’s
always been like that:
fast – transient – warm –
riding the wind.”

Bruce IsAacson

These engraved poems follow recent improvements that have transformed the stretch of Third Street into a pedestrian-friendly green space. Upgrades include a new permanent stage between Hoover and Gass, a rehabilitated roadway, widened sidewalks, LED-lit shade structures, a sculpture by Wayne Littlejohn and more.
