Nacho Daddy Triumphantly Returns to Henderson

At the entrance, you are greeted by a tank with live scorpions

After establishing the first Nacho Daddy in 2010 on Eastern south of St. Rose Parkway in Henderson, the Vegas-born business continued to expand with three locations, one in Salt Lake City and one in suburban Atlanta. The playful Mexican restaurant gained national attention via features on The Food Network, Travel Channel and Animal Planet.

The original location closed in 2016 but now Nacho Daddy is back to Henderson, on St. Rose just east of Raiders Way. Regarding the eatery’s triumphant return, Paul Hymas, co-founder and president of Nacho Daddy says, “Ever since moving out of Henderson in 2016, ‘when are you coming back?’ is the most prominent question Nacho Daddy gets. We’re thrilled to say that we are back to the city where our nacho domination started and in arguably one of the best locations we’ve built.”

Décor

The brand new building is a 4,500-square-foot restaurant featuring indoor and garage door-style patio outdoor seating, 14 high-def TVs, large windows, rustic brick walls, brown tables and chairs, comfortable padded booths, a wraparound bar, neon art (including one spelling out ♥ NACHOS) and an open kitchen. At the entrance, you are greeted by a tank with live scorpions offering a reminder of the famed scorpion shot drink served inside.

Custom Gourmet Nachos

As for the namesake nachos, here you’ll find 10 upgraded signature gourmet versions your father only could have dreamed of, such as filet mignon, lobster and crab, Thai chicken, southern fried chicken and spicy shrimp. There’s also five gluten-free versions and one to celebrate our city’s NHL team: the Golden Knights with marinated filet mignon, cheddar/Jack cheese, yellow queso, sautéed onions, mushrooms, red & green peppers and pickled peppers.

More Mexican-American Cuisine

But if you think nachos are the only reason to come here, think again. Nacho Daddy also offers traditional Mexican-American favorites such as flaming fajitas; Mexi-Cobb salad; several varieties of tacos, enchiladas and burritos; and breakfast items such as avocado toast, breakfast burrito, chilaquiles and huevos rancheros.

The Mexican-American cuisine carries over to the dessert menu, with churro sundae, deep fried ice cream, caramel apple nacho and churro with chocolate, raspberry and caramel sauce.

Vegan Menu

There are so many vegan offerings that a whole page of the menu is devoted to more than a dozen choices. Nacho creations include the Vegan Loaded Nacho with black beans, house-made vegan queso, vegan sour cream, avocado lime salsita, salsa fresca, pico de gallo, fresh guacamole and pickled jalapenos, which is also gluten free; and the Vegan Chick’n with marinated chick’n, house-made vegan queso, black beans, red and green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, fire roasted corn, avocado lime salsita, pico de gallo and house-made spinach chips. The menu is rounded outwith vegan tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, chimichanga, quesadilla and fajita salad.

Beverage Offerings

Complementing the fare is the aforementioned scorpion shot served with Telsón Blanco Tequila, salt, lime wedge and comes complete with the actual insect, if you dare to ingest it.

Several margaritas include the Daddy’s Original with 100 percent Weber Blue Agave Reposado, triple sec and house-made sweet & sour; White Peach with Telsón Blanco tequila, peach schnapps and white peach puree; and Cadillac with Telsón Reposado tequila, triple sec, house-made sweet & sour topped with Grand Marnier.

Beer fans have reason to rejoice, as there are Nacho Daddy beers made locally by Bad Beat Brewing with fun names in variations of Big Daddy’s Hoppy Pale Ale, Daddy’s Girl German Hefe, Daddy’s Stout and Who’s Ya Daddy? (a crisp, hoppy, drinkable Pilsner).

The return of Nacho Daddy to Henderson is welcome news to those who lamented its exit. The new digs and new menu enhancements make this new version worth checking out again and again. And don’t forget to say hi to the scorpions.

Nacho Daddy is open daily 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Taco & Tequila Tuesday deal offers specials on street tacos and 2 for 1 tequila shots, and the BOGO Wine Wednesday has 2 for 1 glasses of wine.
