Where to eat and drink around Las Vegas this week

(Editor’s Note: Tasty Tuesday airs on KTNV Channel 13 on Tuesdays at 11:20 a.m.)

New restaurants, bars and beers are popping up all over town, and here are three debuts you won’t want to miss.

Robata En

Robata En on Spring Mountain Road, helmed by culinary mastermind Chef Ramir DeCastro (formerly of Yonaka), creates delicious dishes made entirely from scratch. His philosophy is to introduce guests to something unfamiliar by pairing it with something familiar. One of the must-have dishes is the Branzino (pictured below)—pan-seared Mediterranean sea bass, binchotan grilled heirloom tomatoes, spicy lobster emulsion, olive oil and baby kale.

Robata En also serves an articulately curated eight- to 10-course omakase tasting menu with seasonal ingredients. Another option is the seven-course omakase box to-go for two at a great value of $99.

Other menu highlights include the Scottish salmon with orange supreme, yuzu tobiko, Thai chili and yuzu ponzu; uni pasta with AAA gold sea urchin, Calabrian chili, parsley, yolk bottarga and fresh-made pasta; and for dessert, 12 Minute Cookies with peanut milk and ube jam. A variety of meats and vegetables are grilled over a natural oak charcoal robata grill including ground duck, kurobuta pork belly, foie gras with coffee balsamic kabayaki, A5 Kobe beef,  yuzu-brined ribs and miso buttered corn.

Don’t forget to order one of the whiskey flights with choices ranging from affordable to exclusive brands. Happy Hour at Robata En is offered 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

Ryan Reaves’ Beer Grim Reaver from 7Five Brewing

Get ready for VGK games with Grim Reaver, Ryan Reaves’ newest beer from 7Five Brewing. This is the beer that inspired 7Five Brewing, and it’s the next evolution in the company’s journey—one that channels your greatness to go into ‘battle’ like we know Reavo will be tonight.

Reaves said he’s more excited to “launch this stout than with any their other brews” and described it as “personal” and that he’s “in the Grim Reaver mentality.” Grim Reaver is an Imperial Stout with notes of lightly roasted coffee and dark chocolate and has a 7.5 percent ABV. Pick up a four-pack at Lee’s Discount Liquor or Total Wine, or try it along with the other 7Five beers at Able Baker Brewing Downtown. It joins his other brews: Dawn Breaker, Training Day and Shiver Giver.
