Meet the Winners of the ‘What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up’ Art Contest

Nevada State Treasurer’s Office awards ceremony honors local artists

On November 9, Nevada State Treasurer’s Office hosted an award ceremony to honor winners of  “What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up” Art Contest. During the ceremony at the Windmill Public Library, Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine announced the first, second and third place winners from each of the five categories and welcomed attendees to enjoy the gallery of award-winning artwork on display throughout the library. 

Art Contest Prizes

The five first-place artists received $1,000 deposited into an SSGA Upromise 529 college savings account. The second-place artists received $500 and the third-place artists received $250. Additionally, two teachers from schools Mojave High & Pleasant Valley Elementary received a $200 gift card for having students participate in this amazing contest.

“It was an honor to celebrate the winners of our recent art contest last night and congratulate all of the students and their families. Each student created a unique piece of artwork that showcased their career aspirations,” said Nevada State Treasurer Zach Conine. “I’d like to thank all of the students who participated in the contest. It was a pleasure to go through the submissions and see all of the creativity and time that each child put into their artwork. Congratulations again to the winners. I encourage everyone to visit the Windmill Library until January 25, 2022 to see the gallery.”

Casey S., 2 place in the Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten Category from Doral Academy- Cactus

Alexander B., 3 place in the Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten Category from Bonner Elementary

David D., 1 place in the 1st & 2nd Grades Category from Lemmon Valley Elementary School

Alexandria C., 2 place in the 1st & 2nd Grades Category from Doral Academy- Pebble

Madison G., 3 place 1st & 2nd Grades Category from Robert & Sandy Ellis Elementary School

Chloe J., 1 place in the 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grades Category from Doral Academy- Red Rock

Gemma K., 2 place in the 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grades Category from Las Vegas Day School

Ellie D., 3 place in the 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grades Category from Bartlett Elementary School
