‘Bros’ Movie Mobile Theater Rolls into Las Vegas This Labor Day

Watch a FREE sneak peak of ‘Bros,’ 'the first romantic comedy about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They're both very busy.'

“Bros” isn’t the first movie with a gay storyline featuring a gay cast by any stretch of the imagination. But it is the first ever studio film receiving a theatrical release in cinemas. Go ahead and add that to a list of things that didn’t happen until the year 2022. Universal Pictures is sending a 44 seat mobile pop-up theater across the nation to screen a portion of the film to celebrate their cinematic achievement.

Lucky for Las Vegas, our town is on the exclusive list of cities bringing the experience to fans.

The 4-1-1 on ‘Bros’

“Bros” is promoted as the first romantic comedy about two gay men maybe, possibly, probably, stumbling towards love. Maybe. They’re both very busy.” It was written by and stars Billy Eichner, best known for “Billy on the Street.” The forthcoming rom-com also features Luke Macfarlane (“Killjoys”), Bowen Yang (“SNL”), Kristin Chenoweth (“Schmigadoon!”) and Jai Rodriguez (“Uncoupled”).

“It’s the first gay rom-com ever made by a major studio. Rom-com in the traditional sense that boy meets boy, boy loses boy, boy tries to get boy back,”  Billy Eichner told me in early April while promoting the film at Cinemacon in Vegas. “There are a lot of historical elements to the film. But, really, we just wanted to make a funny movie,” said Eichner before accepting the “Comedy Star of the Year” award in Las Vegas.

Put simply, it’s a “smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about how hard it is to find another tolerable human being to go through life with.” Judging from the trailer and the footage screened at Cinemacon, it is just that—regardless of your sexual orientation.

Pop in for a playful pop-up

Though the movie does not officially release until September 30, the “Bros” mobile theater will be rolling into Las Vegas on Sunday, September 4. The theater on wheels seats 44 people at a time and will show a 14-minute portion of the film on an 18-foot screen. The free experience can be enjoyed at one of the most popular gay bars in the city,  The Garden LV, from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The “Bros” mobile theater will visit San Diego, Los Angeles, Atlanta, DC, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Dallas and Phoenix before opening later in the month. “Bros” is rated R.
