Jenna boldly explores the radiant mountains gleaming in various shades of red, orange and pink.

The Deets

• The Valley of Fire is a Nevada state park that’s open year round from dawn to dusk.

Nevada State Parks says The Valley of Fire consists of 40,000 acres of red Aztec sandstone.

• Many movies have filmed scenes at The Valley of Fire, including “Star Trek: Generations” and “Transformers.”

• Basketmaker culture carved petroglyphs throughout the park more than 1,000 years ago.

• Start the Passport Challenge by receiving a free passport pamphlet at the visitor center. The challenge encourages locals and tourists to visit all 15 Nevada state parks and experience diverse cultural histories and unique geological landscapes.

• The entrance fee is $10.
