Metallica and Billy Joel Headline Epic Weekend at Allegiant Stadium

Two nights, two legendary performances one weekend in February 2022

In today’s edition of Music Monday, we are here to tell you that Nothing Else Matters cause The Piano Man and The Four Horsemen are making their way to Allegiant Stadium. Translation: Metallica and Billy Joel are coming.

The two epic shows will take place over one weekend in February of 2022. In other words, get ready to swipe the credit card or tap into the savings account. First up is Metallica on February 25, followed by Billy Joel on February 26.

Metallica will be mid-tour when they hit Vegas in the winter. Most recently they’ve re-released their Metallica album (commonly referred to as the Black album) three decades after it was originally released. More impressively, the band has been together for 40 years.

We could tell you about the 120 million albums they have sold. Or, we could remind you they have nine Grammy Awards and more MTV Video Awards than shows at Allegiant Stadium have been played to date. And honestly, we wouldn’t be doing our jobs if we didn’t remind you that they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

But, one of the most interesting items we are amazed by are the eclectic artists who have covered the metal band songs. The list includes Miley Cyrus and former Vegas headliner Elton John. Fans who can’t wait until the show can always catch up on the band’s podcast The Metallica Podcast.

As for Billy Joel, the man who is perpetually in a New York State of Mind will need to put his thoughts on the Las Vegas Strip on Saturday night the 26th. It would be impossible to get all 33 of his top 40 hits into one show, though it won’t be for his lack of trying. A recent look at his Austin setlist should give fans a look at what to expect, plus or minus a song or two.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer is one of the most popular singer-songwriters of our time and his 150 million album sales prove it. Joel’s first album release was in 1971 and is among his 13 studio albums, six live albums and seventeen compilation albums. Oh yeah, and somewhere in there he managed to make 45 music videos.

So, consider this your heads up to get your money together and your calendar cleared for the last weekend in February. Never mind that it’s after Valentine’s day. Who needs flowers and chocolate anyway when you have hard rock and smooth jazz to feed your musical soul.
