Off The Strip Staff: Hi Danielle! Will you be our Insta BFF?

@Danielleperea: Absolutely, would love that! Anything for you 😘

OTS Staff: By day, you are …

Danielle Perea: A Co-Founder / Digital & Brand Strategist of The Golden Collective and a sustainable fashion boutique owner of La Boheme Collective! 🤍

OTS Staff: By night, you are …

Perea: A girl who loves to eat and drink! 🥂

OTS Staff: What’s one of your favorite local restaurants in Las Vegas and why do you love it?

Perea: Just one? This is gonna be really hard… Well, Other Mama is one of my absolute faves for years now! I used to go every Friday at 5:30 p.m. when I was still working my corporate job. Now, I don’t get to go as often because my schedule is so busy / sporadic. Love OM for the food and cocktails. Also, the guys there (Dan, Allen, Coop) are like family to me!

OTS Staff: How long have you been on Instagram?

Perea: Oh my goodness, we’re going way back! I think since 2012? So, 10 years now!

OTS Staff: That’s awesome! Wow!

OTS Staff: What was your first post?

Perea: So I used to intern for Sony Electronics while in college. Pretty sure my first post was something about an experiential marketing event we had at CES Trade Show! Man, I don’t miss hiking up and down the convention center and casino in my heels!

OTS Staff: Sounds like quite a workout! What got you interested in a career in marketing?

Perea: I actually went to school for political science, but then started interning for Sony and fell in love with marketing and social media! It’s a natural fit for me!

OTS Staff: That’s so cool! It’s amazing how life can take so many different directions.

“I literally met my best friends on Insta and we’ve been inseparable ever since.”

Danielle Perea, co-founder of The Golden Collective

OTS Staff: What’s your top post? And why do you think it almost broke the internet?

Perea: Right? It’s crazy how life took me here!

Perea: Ooooh, my top post! Hmm in the past couple of years, it was my BACARDÍ x Life Is Beautiful partnership posts! We covered the LIB experience and how BACARDÍ just wants everyone to do what moves you! It’s always a great time.

OTS Staff: That sounds super fun! Do brands approach you often for collabs? If so, how do you decide which ones to do?

Perea: Not as often anymore as they used to since I’m focusing on growing my businesses! BUT before, I used to get pitched every week. I really only say yes to the ones I align with [and what I] believe in. I don’t ever post about any brands or businesses that I don’t align with because I want to continue being genuine on this platform. 🥰 It’s important that I stay true to myself!

OTS Staff: We love that you are genuine! Building trust is so important 💜

OTS Staff: Why do you love Insta?

Perea: I love Insta because it’s such an easy platform to connect with people offline. I literally met my best friends on Insta and we’ve been inseparable ever since. 🤍 Also, I can truly be myself on here without judgment. It’s such a great space.

OTS Staff: Insta is such a great way to connect with people that share the same interests. Making friends on Insta is part of the fun of social media.

OTS Staff: TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms now. Would you leave Insta for TikTok?

Perea: Can I be perfectly honest?

OTS Staff: Of course!

Perea: I’m the kind of person who follows TikTok trends on IG Reels 2 weeks after they’ve gone viral. 😂 I can’t keep up with TikTok. It’s like information overload for me!

“The best thing about being an Instagram Influencer is the network I built from this platform. It’s incredible how connected I got with the local Vegas community.”

Danielle Perea, co-founder of The Golden Collective

OTS Staff: 😂 TikTok can definitely be overwhelming. The trends are constantly changing and it can be a challenge to keep up.

OTS Staff: What’s the secret to having a great Instagram feed?

Perea: I always say this to my friends and clients who ask, my secret to having a great Instagram feed is posting whatever the heck you want! It doesn’t have to be perfect with the same presets and aesthetic! Just be true to you, and the rest will come!

OTS Staff: If you could change one thing about Instagram, what would it be and why?

Perea: The algorithm! Just let people be seen without having to try so hard to be seen! 😭 I know a lot of friends and even myself have felt discouraged in the past with changes to the algorithm and our posts not performing! I know I’m not alone in this.

OTS Staff: Yes! The algorithm can be frustrating at times. And it’s really weird when old posts sometimes randomly appear on the feed. We are right there with you!

OTS Staff: What’s the top challenge of being an Instagram influencer? What’s the best and worst thing about it?

Perea: The top challenge is staying relevant and always challenging myself creatively.

Perea: The best thing about being an Instagram Influencer is the network I built from this platform. It’s incredible how connected I got with the local Vegas community. The worst thing is having to produce so much content all the time and being creative on demand. Sometimes, I get in a rut! But I always power through!

OTS Staff: We love your posts and your creativity! But I’m sure it can be challenging to be creative on demand. To get a break, do you ever take a digital detox?

Perea: I don’t think I’ve ever allowed myself a digital detox because I work primarily in the digital marketing space. I’ve tried to get off my own socials, but it’s so hard! 😂 To get a break mentally, I just like to go out of town, but I also post about it. LOL.

OTS Staff: 🤣 It can be super hard to step away! Traveling is a fun way to break out of routine. What’s three things that you always take with you everywhere you go?

Perea: I have three essentials that I pack on trips (besides the obvious ie phone, keys, wallet LOL). My laptop, my camera, and Smashbox tinted moisturizer!

OTS Staff: Where’s one of your favorite places in Las Vegas to take photos for social media? Why do you think it’s a good place to take pictures?

Perea: Oooohhh.

Perea: There’s actually two. Can we talk about two? DTLV has so many treasures and hidden gems. I love taking photos by Fergusons and that Strip of Fremont East.

Perea: BUT there’s also something about going out into the desert in the middle of nowhere. I don’t do Red Rock like most. I’ll try to go on the way to Pahrump or on the way to Goodsprings to get some awesome and unique “stuck in the desert” boho western vibes!

Perea: I think finding places that are unique and not as populated are best. Everyone loves shooting by murals downtown and kudos to them for supporting our local artists! But there are obviously more popular mural spots than others. I encourage everyone to find their own hidden gems.

OTS Staff: We are taking notes! Love these ideas. 💜 Who is in your DMs?

Perea: My DMs are full of supportive people who literally just cheer me on! I couldn’t be any more grateful. I don’t often get people “sliding in my DMs,” which is great for me! 😂

OTS Staff: 🤣

OTS Staff: What’s one random fact about you that no one can find on the internet?

Perea: Ooooh, that’s tough because I share everything. Hmmmm, let me think.

Perea: One random fact about me that no one can find on the internet is that I do not know how to ride a bike. 😂 It’s pretty sad, I know. 😂

OTS Staff: There’s nothing wrong with not knowing how to ride a bike, especially when it’s so hot in Vegas. 😊

Perea: Right? I wouldn’t want to brave the heat on a bike!

OTS Staff: Tag a bestie!

Perea: @julzkimmm!

OTS Staff: Thank you so much for hanging out with Off The Strip!

Perea: Thanks for letting me be your Insta BFF!
