Las Vegas Raiders Top Cleveland Browns on Last Second Field Goal

Game moved to Monday, December 20, 2021 due to COVID-19 Protocols (previous game postponed from Saturday, December 18, 2021)

Hey Raiders fans. It was a nail-biter in the last seconds of the game. The Las Vegas Raiders squeaked it out 16-14 against the Cleveland Browns on Monday, December 20, 2021.

First Half

Raiders’ Wide Receiver Bryan Edwards received a 5-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Derek Carr to score first. Kicker Daniel Carlson added an extra point. The Raiders led 7-0.

With 0:56 remaining in the half, Carlson added a 24-yard field goal. The Raiders led the Browns 10-0 at the half.

Second Half

On third down and goal, running back Nick Chubb scored a 4-yard touchdown. The Browns cut the deficit to 10-7 with 4:33 left in the third quarter.

Carlson gave the Raiders a 13-7 lead with another field goal early in the fourth quarter. With 3:45 left in regulation, Nick Mullens found Harrison Bryant for a 6-yard touchdown.

The Browns lead 14-13 setting up for a great finish.

Carr threw a costly interception made by Cleveland cornerback Greedy Williams late in the game. This gave the Browns a chance to essentially grab a win. The Raiders defense held them off. Cleveland punted the ball back to the Raiders.

Carr drove the Raiders offense down to the 30-yard line. He spiked the ball with 0:22 left in the game. Kicker Daniel Carlson made what looked to be the game winning field goal.

But Cleveland’s active head coach Mike Priefer iced Carlson as the kick went through the goal posts. Carlson nailed the kick again. And this time it counted!

“It’s been a long time coming to win a game like that in the end,” Raiders interim coach Rich Bisaccia told Yahoo News. “We understand the situation we’re in and what the playoff race looks like.”

The Vegas Raiders won 16-14 over the Cleveland Browns.

Here are the Facts

The Browns (7-7) loss was heartbreaking. A win versus the Raiders would have put Cleveland into first place in a heavily contested AFC North Division. Their latest loss puts Cleveland to .500 and sets them in last place.

Because of the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, the Browns did not have Baker Mayfield starting at quarterback. Head Coach Kevin Stefanski and several other prominent players were out too. This includes star wide receiver Jarvis Landry and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

The Raiders didn’t take kind of the NFL postponing their visit to the Dawg Pound. They made sure to let the league know that they weren’t going to cancel their playoffs chances too.

Ready for the Next Game?

The Raiders (7-7) will host the Denver Broncos (7-7) on Sunday, December 26, 2021.
