Nicolas Hague and Hockey Fights Cancer Night headline this week's highlights
We are back with another edition of Vegas Golden Knights Plays of the Week.
Every Monday, we will look at the best Golden Knights’ highlights from the past seven days. Be it a scintillating save, an end-to-end goal or a bone-crushing hit, it will be here.
The Golden Knights find themselves in a bit of slump, as they have lost three-straight games for the first time this season.
Despite the stretch of mediocrity, there were still some praiseworthy plays from the past few games to look at.
Hague Unleashes A Cannon
During Monday’s win against the Los Angeles Kings, defenseman Nicolas Hague gave the Golden Knights a multi-goal lead late in the second period.
It marked Hague’s fourth goal of the season, and they have all come in similar fashion. The 22-year-old has a rocket of a shot, which Golden Knights’ fans have taken notice of.
The term “Haguerbomb” now frequents social media whenever the 6-foot-6 rearguard finds the back of the net.
Expect to see a lot more of it throughout the coming seasons, as Hague has proven to be a key piece for the future of the Golden Knights’ blueline.
Hockey Fights Cancer Night
Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Wild also served as Hockey Fights Cancer Night at T-Mobile Arena.
During warmups, the team wore their speciality Hockey Fights Cancer lavender jerseys.
Following the game, the team autographed the jerseys, as well as sticks, pucks, and other apparel. Fans could then bid on the merchandise, with all proceeds going towards cancer initiatives.
A majority of the donations would go to the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation, while a portion would also go towards Kay’s Power Play.
For those unfamiliar, Kay’s Power Play is a charitable organization that was created by Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore. He created the fund in honor of his late grandmother, and also after his own battle with cancer.
I wrote about Theodore’s personal journey and the formation of the fund back in November.
Hopefully, the Golden Knights can get back to their winning ways this upcoming week!
