ROBIN JAMES (University of North Carolina, Charlotte) Bad Guy and Chill Moods: Resilience and Post-Probablist Neoliberalisms in Pop Music Professor Jamess research focuses on sound and music, theories of gender/race/sexuality, feminist philosophy, continental philosophy, and political philosophy. She explores how neoliberalism and biopolitics impact gender norms, race relations, and pop music aesthetics, and the ways that women and gender non-conforming musicians and fans write, perform, and listen to music to mitigate the negative affects of cisheterosexism and racism. Her talk will focus on the music of Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, KMFDM, Panic! At the Disco, and Lil Nas X. Ham Fine Arts Building, Room 147
